Microsoft has been planning to stop its Windows Live Messenger and as announced in November 2012, Microsoft is now moving all its users to Skype.
Although there was no word about the exact date of termination of this service but Microsoft today emailed more than 100 million Messenger users with an announcement of Messenger termination on March 15, 2013.?
Microsoft has mentioned in the email that the Messenger will retire in March and the users can move to Skype. The Windows Live Messenger however will still be available for the users in China and the platform will further be operated as a local messenger.
The email from Microsoft today went with the subject ?Important info about your Messenger account?. The email further included a bold statement saying ?It?s time to update Messenger to Skype!?
The Windows Live Messenger termination being in news for last several months, users were not surprised to see this email from the Company. As suggested by Microsoft in the email, the users can easily transit to Skype.
The email says, ?Update to Skype and sign in using a Microsoft Account (same as your Messenger ID) and all your Messenger contacts will be at your fingertips. You?ll be able to instant message and video chat with them just like before, and also discover new ways of staying in touch with Skype on your mobile and tablet.?
Microsoft seemingly wants its users to shift to Skype as soon as possible.
